Disciplina Positiva Story
Tony and Lisseth met in 1997 at a community youth group. They became public speakers, and spoke at churches, communities, and juvenile jails. A question that they frequently asked the teens was, “How is your relationship with your parents?” Their answer was, “They are always busy, and they have no time for us.” Tony has always felt the call of helping families so he decided to change his career from wanting to be a chiropractor to receiving his Bachelors Degree in Human Services with an emphasis in Counseling from California State University of Fullerton. Lisseth always wanted to be a teacher, so she received her Bachelors Degree in Child and Adolescent Studies and holds a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with a B-CLAD from California State University of Fullerton.
Tony and Lisseth had the incarcerated teens in mind. Therefore, they both decided to quit their careers to establish a corporation focusing 100% on training parents with tools that would help them in their parenthood, create healthy families, and have safe schools.
In 2010, they became certified through Positive Discipline Association and began teaching their Positive Parenting Workshops with a group of parent educators that they trained themselves.
In 2020, due to the pandemic, many schools did not know how to serve parents online. Disciplina Positiva, Inc was ready to offer live virtual parenting workshops through zoom.
Tony and Lisseth have been married since 2000 and have four children; a teen, two pre-teens, and an 8-year-old girl. They can empathize with what parents are dealing with and the challenges they are enduring during these difficult times.
Disciplina Positiva, Inc is offering parenting workshops through live virtual zoom classes. Their success has been phenomenal. Their teachings have impacted many parents, and the number of parents participating through zoom meetings have skyrocketed. A lot more children and teens have been touched through love and respect by their graduated parents from their program.
Tony and Lisseth are very active in their social media; they work closely with Univision Network, a well-known television station by the Latino community.
Their vision is to transform every home and school environment where children and teens feel a sense of belonging and significance through love and respect from parents and teachers. They want to see children and teens with great dreams and possibilities. They hope to see parents discipline with kindness and firmness while enjoying their parenthood journey. They plan to see more teachers having more time to teach instead of dealing with misbehaving students.
Tony, Lisseth, and their team of educators can not do it by themselves; therefore, they are teaming up with school leaders, community liaisons, and principals to make those children and teen’s dreams come true.
